Posting and claiming a food donation is simple. The Food to Share website works like an online food exchange. Donors and receiver organizations register as members on the Food to Share website, which connects and gives them access to the exchange. When a donor has food to donate, they post the donation on the website and an alert is immediately sent out via email or text notifying receivers of the opportunity. A registered receiver organization then claims the donation and follows the donor’s guidelines for obtaining the donation.
A Food Donor can be any business and in some instances – homeowners, with fruit trees or vegetable gardens, who have excess nutritional food available to donate.
